RUSTIC & PEACEFUL COTTAGE IN IT’S OWN WOODS
“what a beautiful, magical space and place. We have loved sitting watching the birds, connecting with the woods, river and trees, and relishing the peace and seclusion of the cottage and its land… Lucy and Phil
Plumstone Cottage is the only restored cottage in the ruins of an ancient village that shows signs of neolithic habitation. Also the site of an old castle which features on 17th Century maps, we bought the land and abandoned ruins twenty years ago, having fallen in love with the woods, massive boulders, stream and the peace of the place. In 2010, we finished building the Brittany Groundhouse in a field next to our woods. This was featured on Grand Designs. For more information or to purchase our Groundhouse Build & Cook book please visit our Groundhouse website here >>
Plumstone Cottage is available to rent throughout the year and suits couples and families looking for a relaxed place to stay in a beautiful setting, yet close to everything needed for a great holiday.

The cottage had no roof when we started and we have restored it over the years, adding an opening to the woods at the back, velux windows, and a beautiful wooden staircase from salvaged shipwreck timbers which winds upstairs into a large open plan room. This has a sunny south facing living space looking out onto the front gardens and two beds, one double and one single.
The second (master) bedroom is entered through its own door and contains one double bed and a south facing velux. The bathroom has a luxury stone resin roll top bath with shower mixer taps.
Downstairs is all open plan, with the kitchen at one end and the fireside lounge at the other. We have installed a state of the art Wiking Stove that is easy to use and super efficient with its high heat burn and glass front. In between is a very large dining table, but we also have a large dining table for you outside! The downstairs opens onto the front with a newly installed fully opening oak trifold door. The front terrace includes a breton style sandpit. You can see out team in action taking on the challenge of fitting a glass front to the cottage in this short film we have just done.
We include everything you need from wood for the fire, to linen and towels…as well as a very well equipped kitchen (including a nutribullet), music system for connecting your own tunes, and a (small) screen with a selection of dvds for any rainy days. There are good books and 2 adult mountain bikes and a few kids bikes…Free superfast WIFI is there if you want it…
If you want to be in the middle of nature, but close to an organic village shop and bakery (10 minutes by bike, available fir your use) and a classic weekly french market, our gite in brittanny is waiting to be explored…
