PLUMSTONE RUSTIC – FRENCH COUNTRY COTTAGE
“I had to write to say how magical we all felt our stay to be. Your cottage is in an extraordinary ancient site and every one of us was affected by it” Kate Shuckborough.
Plumstone Cottage is on the edge of the woods tucked close to huge ash, oak and plum trees. It has been rebuilt to maximise light and space and includes stripped wooden flooring and an open plan layout. Sympathetically redesigned and restored, the large living space has a breton stone hearth housing a jotul woodstove that makes for cosy evenings by the fire. At the other end of the downstairs is the large rustic kitchen with a stainless steel gas range.
We have designed a beautiful wooden staircase from salvaged shipwreck timbers which winds upstairs and opens out into the large open plan upstairs room. This has a sunny south facing living space looking out into the front gardens and two beds, one double and one single. The room is open and bright, lit by south facing velux and a full length north facing window looking out into the woods. The upstairs space includes a small study area.
The second bedroom is entered through its own door and contains one double bed and a large south facing velux. The bathroom has a cast iron bath with shower mixer taps.
We have also built a wooden geodome in the woods situated in between our biggest granite boulders. This can be used as extra ‘camping’ accomodation if needed or space for children to play.
